Abu Firas al-Hamdani
932–968 — Arabic.
A prince and a soldier of the Hamdanid court, Abu Firas wrote his best poems, the Rumiyyat, as a prisoner of the Byzantines — which is why they sound like someone keeping his composure on purpose.
