Made well, a printed calligraphy piece outlives trends. A few habits keep it perfect.

The three rules

• Sunlight is the enemy. Archival inks resist fading, but direct Gulf sun through glass wins eventually. Hang opposite the window, not facing it.
• Humidity warps wood. Keep pieces off bathroom walls and away from kitchen steam. Air-conditioned rooms are ideal — this is the UAE's one advantage in conservation.
• Dry cloth only. Dust with a soft, dry microfibre. No sprays, no glass cleaner on acrylic glazing — solvents craze it. For canvas, a light pass with a clean duster.

If something happens

A scratch on acrylic glazing can often be polished; a dented frame corner can be re-mitred. Write to connect@mashq.ae with a photo before assuming the worst — remakes reprint from your archived production file, exactly as the first.
